A plank that flexes underfoot makes everyone on the platform slower and more careful than they need to be. The Total Aluminium Planks are built for Australian sites, light enough for one person to carry and stiff enough to stand on without the wobble.

They suit brickies, painters, plasterers and scaffolders working off trestles or a scaffold deck.

Why The Total Aluminium Planks Hold Steady

  • Three chamber profile. The plank profile uses a three chamber design for superior strength, so the deck does not feel like it is giving under you.
  • Full length knurling. Grip along the whole plank, satisfying the grip requirements of the Australian scaffold plank standard.
  • Rubber strips both sides. Slip resistance whichever way the plank goes down.
  • Flush plank locks. The plank lock sits level with the connecting plank, giving you a flat runway with no trip hazard at the join.
  • Designed and produced for the Australian market.

Total Aluminium Plank Specifications

  • Standard lengths: 2.4m, 3.0m, 4.0m, 5.0m and 6.0m. Other lengths available on request.
  • Profile: 50mm (h) x 230mm (w), with a 2mm wall thickness
  • Working load limit, single plank: 205kg, maximum span 3.0m
  • Working load limit, two planks: 225kg, maximum span 5.4m when used with plank locks
  • Plank weight: 4.2kg per metre
  • Standard: grip requirements to AS/NZS 1577 plank standard

Weight by length:

  • 2.4m: 10kg.
  • 3.0m: 13kg.
  • 4.0m: 17kg.
  • 5.0m: 22kg.
  • 6.0m: 25kg.

What You Need To Make A Full Trestle Kit With Planks And Handrail

A trestle platform is simpler than it looks. Here is exactly what goes into one, so nothing turns up missing on the morning of the job.

  • Two trestles make one bay. A bay is the span between them. The trestle sets your platform height, not its length.
  • Planks lay across the trestles. Plank length sets how long the platform is. Pick your height first, then your length.
  • Going further than 3m apart? Use two planks side by side. One plank spans up to 3.0m between trestles. Two planks joined with plank locks span up to 5.4m. Two also gives you a wider walking surface with noticeably less bend underfoot, which is why most crews run two.
  • Working above 2m means edge protection. That is the Trestle Handrail Kit. It covers one bay and brings the outriggers, posts, rails, plank clamps and plank locks with it.
  • To go longer, add a bay. Each extra bay needs one more trestle, one or two more planks and one Link-Up Kit. The Link-Up Kit extends the handrail with no gap in the barrier.
  • Trestles and planks are sold separately from both the Handrail Kit and the Link-Up Kit. Neither kit includes them.

Quick reference:

  • One bay: 2 trestles, 1 or 2 planks, 1 Handrail Kit.
  • Two bays: 3 trestles, 2 or 4 planks, 1 Handrail Kit plus 1 Link-Up Kit.
  • Each extra bay after that: add 1 more trestle, 1 or 2 more planks and 1 more Link-Up Kit.

Shipping & Delivery

We deliver Total Aluminium gear Australia-wide, direct to your site, business or residential address, shipped from whichever of our four warehouses is closest to you with live carrier pricing at checkout.

  • Four dispatch points: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, so your order travels the shortest distance we can manage.
  • Trestles and planks: not stocked in WA. Orders for these ship from our eastern states warehouses, so allow extra transit time.
  • Dispatch: your order ships within 1 to 2 business days.
  • Delivery: most orders arrive within 3 to 6 business days. Remote areas can take a little longer.
  • Business or residential: please pick the correct option at checkout, as carrier pricing varies. If the wrong one is chosen and extra charges apply, we'll contact you for approval before dispatch.
  • Long lengths: trestles and planks are oversize freight. A commercial address with unloading help is always cheaper than a residential one.

You will see your exact delivery cost at checkout, or call 1800 953 996 for a hand.
