Total Aluminium Plank Lock Set (2 Locks, Joins 2 Planks) ALPLSET

Two planks locked together are a different platform to two planks sitting side by side. The Total Aluminium Plank Lock Set joins a pair of Total Aluminium planks edge to edge into one rigid deck, so the planks cannot drift apart or open a gap underfoot. Locked, the pair is rated to a 225kg working load limit over a span of up to 5.4m. Unlocked, each plank is on its own: 205kg over a maximum 3.0m span.

Not sure which plank accessory you need? Plank locks join plank to plank. The Adjustable Plank Clamp holds the deck to the trestle. The difference is spelt out further down.

What The Plank Lock Set Does

• Joins two planks into one deck. Each lock bridges the join between the planks and pulls them tight, so you walk on one wide surface instead of two planks that shuffle apart.
• Unlocks the two plank rating. 225kg WLL over a span of up to 5.4m, to the plank grip requirements of AS/NZS 1577. This rating only applies when the planks are locked together.
• Required past 3.0m. One plank spans up to 3.0m between trestles. If your trestles stand further apart than that, you need two planks and they must be locked.
• Flush fit. The lock sits level with the connecting planks. No lip, no trip hazard at the join.
• Tool in the bag. The Allen key is included, so fitting happens on site without chasing tools.
• 10 year manufacturer's warranty from an Australian owned and operated supplier.

One set does one pair of planks. The two locks fit across the join between the two planks. Running a second bay with another pair of planks? Add a second set. Planks are not included.

Do You Already Have Plank Locks?

Check before you order. The Trestle Handrail Kit (THK) includes one Plank Lock Set and the Trestle Link-Up Kit (TLK) includes one as well. You only need to buy this set if you run planks without those kits, or you want to lock a second pair of planks.

Plank Lock Set vs Adjustable Plank Clamp

Total Aluminium makes two plank accessories and they do different jobs.

• Plank Lock Set (this product): joins two planks to each other, side by side, into one deck. This is the part that earns the 225kg and 5.4m two plank rating. Two locks and an Allen key per set, one set per pair of planks.
• Adjustable Plank Clamp (ALPL2-3): holds the finished deck down onto the trestle so the planks cannot lift or slide off the rungs. Not part of the load rating. Sold as a single clamp, one per trestle, so a one bay platform needs two.

Most crews running two planks without a handrail kit use both: one lock set to make the deck, two clamps to hold it on the trestles.
